The Tavern – 33 Greengate Street

The pub is believed to have closed in 2014 and and there has been several planning applications submitted, with the most recent one in being approved August 2023. That application proposed partial demolition of existing single-storey rear outrigger, 3 storey side extension and 2 storey rear extension, change of use from Public House to restaurant/Café with 5 self contained flats.

With the application being approved, several clauses were implemented such as – the development must begin no later than August 2026, development would not be allowed until a Construction Management Plan (CMP) was submitted to, two integrated bat boxes and two swift boxes must be installed.

Additionally, detailed specifications for the facing brickwork, roof tiles, and roof coverings, as well as new rainwater goods, windows, doors, bargeboards, fascia boards, and roof lights, must be submitted and approved by the Local Planning Authority before any work above ground level is carried out.
